Whether you’re cooking for a weekend barbie, easy dinner or crowd-pleasing comfort food, this is fried chicken done the Drunken Sailor way! Whenever I serve this one it's always a winner.
INGREDIENTS:
- Drunken Sailor Smokey Chipotle Honey

Drunken Sailor Yellow Mustard
- 500ml Buttermilk
- 80g Old Bay Seasoning
- 2Tbsp Panko Bread Crumbs
- 2 Cups Plain Flour
- Vegetable 0il - to fry your chicken in
METHOD:
- Squeeze about 2 Tbsp of Drunken Sailor Yellow Mustard into a mixing bowl
- Add in 500ml of Buttermilk and whisk these two together with a fork
- Submerge your chicken pieces - we prefer chicken thighs - into the buttermilk mixture
- This will be be covered with cling wrap and refrigerated overnight or for 8-10 hours
- After the chicken has been brining in the mixture for this time, grab another mixing bowl and chuck in 2 Cups Plain Flour, 80g of your Old Bay Seasoning, add in 2Tbsp Panko Bread crumbs and mix those three dry ingredients together
- Next, grab your chicken from the wet buttermilk mixture, one piece at a time dunk it into the dry ingredients to completely cover - and then do this process one more time on each piece of chicken to get the double coating for extra crispiness!
- Once all chicken's coated, fry in some hot oil in a pan until brown and super crispy!
- Take it out of the oil, allow it to rest for 5 minutes
- The last and most DELISH step - drizzle with lashings of Drunken Sailor Smokey Chipotle Honey.
This slight sweet, slightly spicy honey on top of the crispy warm chicken is such a WINNER!
