Our Journey

From sharehouse to warehouse, Drunken Sailor was founded in 2013 by food lover with a culinary legacy Justin Arnoux. What began over a boozy dinner with wine, friends, and a shared love of good food, overtime became who we are today.
With a passion for bold, unexpected flavour combinations—and having a cracking good time—Justin wanted to capture the fun, easy-going vibes of that evening and bottle it.
He started cooking up batches of Drunken Sailor jams and relishes in-between his housemates’ 2-minute noodles and cheese Vegemite jaffles.
Raised in a family of foodies, with his Dad a chef and a baker, Justin’s early exposure to the world of flavours and aromas sparked his passion for creating exceptional gourmet products.
These days, he’s keeping his family’s love for food alive by personally crafting every batch of Drunken Sailor jams and relishes in Sydney.
At Drunken Sailor, we reckon 'made good, tastes good'. You won’t find anything in our jars besides the premium ingredients and peculiar flavours we pour into every jam, relish, and mustard we create.
Oh - and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We believe in the joy of food, and the thrill of trying something new and different!

What's Justin's favourite flavour combo?
"You can't go past a bacon and egg roll with Smokey Tomato Relish! Hungover in the morning, get up and fry off that bacon, that egg, smear it with Smokey Tomato Relish - you're in heaven!
Also the Whisky Piccalilli - chunky pickled veggies, spreadable sweet and sour - with ham off the bone and vintage cheddar on a sandwich!" - Justin

Why the name Drunken Sailor?
"Drunken Sailor came about just thinking whats the furthest possible thing from a nice, gentle Grandma making jams, and I came up with an obnoxious Drunken Sailor! Polar opposites." - Justin
