Croque Croissant with Drunken Sailor Wasabi & Raspberry Mustard
Share
Croque Monsieur combined with a croissant, we like to call a 'Croque Croissant'.
A little nod to Justin’s French heritage 🇫🇷 and a bloody good excuse to load a croissant with ham, cheese and all the good stuff - including our Drunken Sailor Wasabi and Raspberry Mustard.
If you’re looking for an easy brunch recipe, a next-level ham and cheese croissant or just another excuse to eat cheese in the morning, give this one a crack.
INGREDIENTS:
- Drunken Sailor Wasabi and Raspberry Mustard
- Fresh croissant (as many as you need - we say 1 per person)
- Ham off the bone
- Comte cheese - or any cheese thats good for grating and melting
- To make the béchamel (white sauce):
- butter
- flour
- milk
METHOD:
- Start by making the béchamel sauce:
- In a pan on a medium heat on the stove top, melt 1 tablespoon of butter
- Once butter starts to gently bubble, add 1 tablespoon of flour
- Whisk to mix well and cook off the flour (important step!)
- Incorporate the milk, little at a time, and whisk through
- Add 1 tablespoon of Drunken Sailor's Wasabi & Raspberry Mustard and whisk through
- Add a generous handful of melted cheese - we like Comte here - and mix through to melt in
- Remove from stove
- Slice your croissant in half lengthways, then spread a generous amount of béchamel sauce over both cut sides.
- Lay on your ham
- Shred a little more cheese onto the ham
- Whack the lid back on the croissant, and transfer over to a preheated frying pan on the stove, medium heat
- Once the croissant starts to toast, flip and toast the other side
- When ready, remove from pan and serve. Best eaten hot!
