Easy Home-Made Sausage Roll Recipe

By brushing each roll with an egg wash before baking, you’ll achieve that delicious, golden, bakery-style flaky crust. You can also prepare this sausage roll mixture ahead of time by freezing the raw mixture.

Ingredients
500g Sausage Mince
3/4 Cup Panko Breadcrumbs
1 Small Brown Onion, finely diced
1 Carrot, peeled and grated
3 Sheets Frozen Puff Pastry, thawed
1 Large Egg, beaten
Drunken Sailor Smokey Tomato Relish, to serve
Method
1. Preheat your oven to 180C. Use baking paper to line 2 large baking trays.
2. Combine mince, breadcrumbs, onion and carrot in a bowl.
3. Cut each pastry sheet in half and spoon 1/2 cup of sausage roll mixture along one side of each pastry roll, creating a long sausage shape.
4. Roll each pastry to encase the filling, pinching down to seal. Cut each pastry to your desired size (into quarters for stackable-sized rolls).
5. Brush each sausage roll with your egg wash and bake for 35 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
Serve immediately with Drunken Sailor’s Smokey Tomato Relish.
