Loaded Reuben Sanga with Drunken Sailor Squeezy Sauces

Loaded Reuben Sanga with Drunken Sailor Squeezy Sauces

Did you know the Reuben sandwich was originally created by a Grocer as a late-night snack for Poker Players?

There’s a reason the Reuben has stood the test of time - big flavour, proper comfort, and zero fuss.

This one’s loaded with all the good stuff - tender meat, melted cheese, crunchy pickles and that signature tang - brought to life with a hit of Drunken Sailor Tomato Sauce and Yellow Mustard.

Perfect for a lazy weekend lunch, or whenever you’re chasing something hearty and seriously satisfying.

INGREDIENTS:

For the Russian dressing:

  • 1 Tps Horseradish
  • 1/4 Cup Gherkins / Cornichons
  • 2 Tbsp Shallots - finely diced
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1/2 Cup Kewpie Mayo

METHOD:

Lets start with the Russian Dressing:

  • Dice up your cornichons or gherkins
  • Into a bowl throw together: 1/2 cup Kewpie Mayo, 1/2 a cup of Sour Cream, then chuck in your 1/4 cup cornichons, 2 Tbsp diced Shallots, 1 Tbsp Horseradish - finally squeeze in 1/4 cup Drunken Sailor Tomato Sauce - and mix altogether with a spoon

Now to assemble the sandwich:

  • Grab ya thick slices of Rye bread and butter the outside
  • On the inside of the bread: onto one slice squeeze Drunken Sailor Yellow Mustard. On the other slice of bread spoon on your pre-prepared Russian Dressing.
  • Lay a few slices of thick-cut corn beef onto the mustard-sauced slice of bread
  • Onto the corn beef, chuck on your sauerkraut
  • Top that off with a few slices of Swiss cheese
  • Put the other slice with the Russian dressing on top - and you have your sandwich assembled.
  • Whack the sandwich into a hot, lightly oiled pan for about 5-10 minutes- until the outside is crispy and golden, and the Swiss cheese has melted inside. Make sure to turn it about half way so both sides of the sandwich get toasted.
  • Cut your sandwich in half and serve with a skewer and cornichons.
  • Absolutely bloody delicious! Enjoy legends.
